Welcome to the DoD Supplier Roadmap series. This series is designed to help manufacturers enter and compete in the DoD Marketplace. It is designed to help you understand the DoD market, the environment, and most of all the amazing variety of opportunities that are available. The series touches on the key elements of doing business with DoD which range from how to locate opportunities, identifying customers, the essential role of past performance and most importantly considerations related to developing a DoD Business Strategy. We hope that you find our DoD Supplier Roadmap series for manufacturers to be informative, useful and that one resource that can help kick-start your efforts to taking advantage of this market and its opportunities. Prior to submitting the first quote or proposal, a company will need to ensure that it has completed all registrations and has developed and put in place all appropriate compliance program requirements unique to DoD customers. Some customers may have relatively straightforward requirements such as active registration in SAM.gov. Others such as DLA, which is a major potential customer for manufacturing businesses and parts suppliers, have several requirements that include registrations, completion of required training, submission of specified forms as well as significant efforts related to cybersecurity. The average company can complete these requirements, but it does take time and awareness of what is required. Knowing a resource such as WPI can help to streamline and accelerate the process.
